Lens and Leaves |
January 2008Monthly MinutesNew business was announced by our new President, Debbie Steinhausser: from now on, we are each going to wear a name badge during our meetings. In addition, starting with our February meeting, we are going to have a social time starting at 6:30pm before the actual start of our meeting at 7pm. The new officers of the club were announced: Debbie Steinhausser, President; Wilma Yoder, Vice President; Niamh (Neev) Carvill, Secretary; Cindy Kidwell, Treasurer; Karl Francis, Webmaster. Debbie also reminded everyone that speakers were needed for our meetings, and topics could be more wide-ranging. Suggestions were made for outings which are to be organized by a couple of members – thank you! The list included Hocking Hills, Franklin Conservatory, an overnighter in Cuyahoga, the zoo and any number of our wonderful parks and preserves. Our guest speaker was Gary Crickmore from Cord Camera who told us some great stories and asked some interesting questions of us as photographers. As the manager of the used equipment department, he was able to answer some technical questions and offer some advice regarding lenses and other equipment. We also discussed the storing of photographs for now and for the future and how many photos each of us has. There were 38 photographs and 10 slides submitted to Mr. Crickmore for his evaluation and opinion and he graciously discussed some of the others that did not get awarded any points. The next meeting will be February 14th at 7pm at the lodge. Tom Shishler of Wahkeena Nature Preserve will be the speaker. His assistant will judge.
