Club Members,

The executive committee met this evening to discuss the club objectives for 2007. We hope to achieve some new and exciting things this year with your help and support.

Next Meeting Our next meeting is this Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. The topic is "History of Photography" and the speaker is Alan Rubin.

Membership Dues Membership dues for 2007 are $15.00. The dues will be collected before the meeting on Thursday, January 11, 2007. Cash will be accepted or a check made out to "Lens and Leaves Camera Club". Please note that per our by-laws your dues must be paid before you can compete in the competition this Thursday night.

Scavenger Hunt Theme The committee discussed a list of themes for the November scavenger hunt. At the meeting on January 11, club members will be asked to vote for their top six choices from the ten themes listed below. Members will be able to enter two photos in their choice of four of the six categories. The 2007 scavenger hunt will be open for print competition only since only a few members are shooting slides.

(Select 6 choices from the list below)

  • Cloud formations
  • Water drops
  • Negative space
  • Rim lighting
  • Low light/night time
  • Reflections
  • Insects/bugs
  • Rocks/stones
  • Shorelines
  • Abstract
  • Other (specify________________)

Increase Membership The committee would like to increase their membership by 20% in 2007. Last year we had 34 paid members, our goal is to have 40 members by the end of the year. We hope to create a flyer and post it in area libraries and camera stores. If you have any ideas on ways to increase membership please talk to Tom Ziegler.

Club Outings The committee would like to plan at least four photo outings this year. Two of the outings would include overnight stays. Tom Ziegler has tentative plans for a spring overnight outing to Blackwater Falls, West Virginia for April 20-April 22 OR May 4-May 6. If you have a favorite place you would like to go or would like to lead an outing let one of the committee members know.

Children's Summer Program Tom Ziegler mentioned that seven or eight years ago the club participated in a three-week summer photography program for children. The Metroparks sponsored the event. Club members mentored children 8-16 years of age. The children brought a disposable camera and over three Saturday sessions learned to compose photos, go on a photo shoot and then had a final competition with their finished photos. This will be discussed more at a later time.

2008 Calendar Fund Raiser The committee discussed the idea of adopting a fundraising project for the club. A club calendar would involve the submission of member's photos to create a calendar for 2008. The goal would be to have the calendar ready for sale by this October before the Metro Parks print competition. See Wilma Yoder if you are interested in being on the calendar sub-committee.

Speakers/Program Presenters and Judges Needed The committee is still looking for speakers, topics, judges etc. Please contact a committee member if you have any suggestions or leads.

Emailing All Club Members If you have something that you would like to share with all of the club members you can do so by sending an email to members@lensandleaves.org. (Sorry, only those on the list may send email to the list. If you would like to be added, send a note to photos at lensandleaves.org. -- webmaster)
